Plantanus occidentalis / Sycamore
Light: Full sun to full shade
Soil: medium to wet
Growth: 100’ tall
Info: Sycamores are beautiful trees that are used throughout the Kansas City area as shade trees, or street trees. They have darker grey bark close to the ground and white bark up towards the crown of the tree. This makes them particularly beautiful in the winter time, when you can see the contrast in bark. They do drop seed balls, bark and twigs, so best to plant away from walking paths, or in an area where sticks and seeds balls are not an issue.
